Every Purchase from Our Shop Helps the Less Fortunate
The HNCO Charity Shop in Nelson, Lancashire is far more than a second-hand store — it is a community hub, a fundraising lifeline, and a sustainable outlet that turns your donated items into real, measurable impact for families in need, both here in the UK and across our international projects.
What You'll Find Inside
Our shelves are stocked with carefully sorted pre-loved clothing for men, women and children, including modest wear, hijabs, abayas and traditional garments. You'll also find books (religious titles, children's books, novels and educational texts), homeware (crockery, kitchen items, home décor), toys, bric-à-brac, electricals, and a rotating selection of brand-new donated stock from local businesses. Prices are deliberately kept low so that low-income families in Nelson and the surrounding Pendle area can also benefit.
How Your Purchases Help
Every pound raised through the shop goes directly towards HNCO's charitable programmes. That means funding water wells in Pakistan, sponsoring orphans in Bangladesh, running food drives during Ramadan, supporting homeless outreach in Greater Manchester, and maintaining the emergency response fund we use to react immediately to disasters such as floods, earthquakes and displacement crises.
Donating Items
We warmly welcome donations of clean, re-sellable clothing, shoes, bags, books, household goods and working small electricals. Please drop off items during shop opening hours — for larger loads, give us a call and we can arrange collection. We regret that we cannot accept large furniture, mattresses, car seats or soft toys for safety reasons.
Volunteer with Us
The shop is largely run by volunteers — sorting stock, serving customers, arranging displays and helping behind the till. Volunteering is a fantastic way to earn rewards in this life and the next, meet local people, build retail experience and contribute to a cause rooted in Islamic values of charity, sustainability and community. Get in touch with our team at info@hnco.org.uk or call 01282 501998 to find out more.
By shopping, donating or volunteering, you help us keep reusable goods out of landfill, provide affordable essentials to families on tight budgets, and fund humanitarian work worldwide — all at once.
