You can download, save, and share all files. ### How many people benefit from one well? A £150 handpump water well typically serves 50-100 people (approximately 10-15 families) in a small village or rural community. Usage depends on the well's capacity, water table depth, and village population. Each well provides water for: - Drinking (5-10 liters per person per day) - Cooking and food preparation - Wudu (ablution) for prayers - Basic hygiene (washing, cleaning) - Small-scale agriculture (vegetable gardens) For larger communities (schools, mosques, 200+ people), we recommend our £1,800 solar water well, which provides 3,000+ liters per day automatically. ### What happens if the well stops working? HNCO provides a 3-year maintenance guarantee. If the well stops working due to equipment failure within 3 years of installation, we repair or replace it at no cost to you. We also train local community members on basic maintenance: - Pump handle lubrication (monthly) - Cleaning the concrete platform (removing debris) - Checking for leaks or loose bolts After 3 years, the community is responsible for maintenance. However, handpumps are designed for durability—the India Mark II pump (our standard) typically lasts 10-15 years with minimal upkeep. Important note for Sadaqah Jariyah: Islamic scholars confirm that your reward continues for all the years the well served people, even if it eventually breaks.
