Donate a Water Well or Water Pump
Clean water for a generation — built in your honour within three weeks.
GIVE CLEAN WATER
Donate a water pump today and give a family clean, safe drinking water for a generation. At HNCO, your donation funds real pumps in real villages — a £150 hand pump serves four families for ten years, and a £1,800 solar pump serves around 100 people for two decades. Every pound you give goes to communities in Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia and across Africa who are still drinking contaminated water. When you donate water pumps through HNCO, we build them in your honour — or in memory of a loved one — within three weeks, and send you photos from the installation.
Why Donate a Water Pump?
More than two billion people still lack access to safe water. Contaminated wells and rivers spread cholera, typhoid, diarrhoea and malaria — illnesses that kill a child every minute. A single water pump changes that for an entire community: women and girls stop walking hours each day to collect water, children go back to school, crops survive the dry season, and preventable disease disappears from the village.
When you donate a water pump with HNCO, you're not funding a campaign — you're funding a specific pump, in a specific village, with your name (or a loved one's) on the plaque.
Sadaqah Jariyah Water Pump — Ongoing Reward
Donating a water pump is one of the purest forms of Sadaqah Jariyah — ongoing charity. Every time a child drinks from the pump you donate, every time a family cooks with it, every time a farmer waters his crops — the reward continues to flow to you, and to whomever you donate in honour of, for as long as the pump serves the community.
"The best form of charity is giving water to drink."
A hand pump we install today will still be pumping water in 2036. A solar pump will still be running in 2046. That's two decades of continuous Sadaqah Jariyah from a single donation.

Zakat-Eligible Water Projects
Your Zakat can fund a water pump. Our water projects in Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia and across Africa serve communities that meet the eight categories of Zakat recipients defined in the Qur'an (At-Tawbah 9:60) — primarily al-fuqara (the poor) and al-masakin (the needy). HNCO works directly with local partners to verify eligibility before installation, so every Zakat pound is placed exactly where Shariah requires it to go.
Not sure how much Zakat you owe this year? Use our 2026 Zakat Calculator and allocate part of it to a water pump in a single click.
Hand Pump or Solar Pump — Which to Donate?
| Pump type | Your donation | People served | Lifespan | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manual hand pump | £150 | ~4 families (25 people) | 10 years | Smaller rural villages, shallow water table |
| Solar water pump | £1,800 | ~100 people | 20 years | Larger communities, schools, mosques, deeper boreholes |
Can't cover the full cost? A £25 contribution goes straight into the next pump in build. Many donors also club together as families, workplaces or mosque communities to fund a full pump in one name.

Donate a Water Pump in Memory of a Loved One
There is no greater gift to the deceased than ongoing charity on their behalf. Donate a water pump in memory of a parent, grandparent, spouse or child, and the reward of every drop of water reaches them. We'll inscribe their name on the pump plaque, send you photos of the completed installation, and provide an official certificate for your records.
Where Your Water Pump Is Built
HNCO has installed water pumps across:

Rural Sindh and Punjab, where seasonal drought and contaminated groundwater affect millions.
